1969 Z/28 or RS/SS 396 tuxedo black

Hi guys, I am new to this site and look forward to participating in forums. Anyways, I have been searching for a Tuxedo Black 1969 Camaro Z/28 or ss (ideally has rs package as well) for some time now and was hoping some of you on here may have some leads. I am very particular for what I am looking for. I'm searching for either a RS/Z28 or RS/SS 396 and I am only looking for a factory black car. Looking for a car that has documentation and is numnbers matching. Prefer houndstooth interior but will consider standard or deluxe in the right circumstances. I am looking for a thoroughly restored car and I am a very serious buyer willing to pay full price for the right car.

Thanks for all your help,
Ben

Welcome.

Careful, as most of the 10 10 trim tags are fakes.

I don't blame you for wanting a black 69Z. They look amazing when done correctly.

They don't change hands very often, If you find one it is <span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">Imperative</span></span> that you have it inspected by a competent Camaro Appraiser. There are so many fakes in this configuration it has affected the value of REAL 10/10 X33's in that much of the market has been satisfied with FAKES, so many in fact that many owners of FAKE CARS believe their cars are real.

There are a few guys with real Black Z's around here...
Here is an original paint RS/Z with Cowl induction and Endura...
IMHO they are Sinister looking.

Still tracking the history of my car. STRIPE DELETE, red deluxe interior. Still got the black in her jambs etc. NCRS says dealer code 361, zone 19, but no dealer name available Someday...

Good luck, they are tough to come by...especially with the houndstooth.

Not a joke but I read somewhere (can't remember)...but people said it was taboo way back in '69 to buy a car that was painted black. Can anyone confirm this. Could be why there weren't many black cars around for that particular year.

Re: 1969 Z/28 or RS/SS 396 tuxedo black

Black was not a &quot;standard&quot; color for the last part of the 68 model year, and for the first part of the 69 model year. I know of an original black 68 Z (painted red now!!!!) that has a - - paint code. I BELIEVE (but cannot prove) that all the late 68 black Camaros and early 69 black Camaros were - - cars. I met a guy with 13 or so 69 Camaros. Two were black, and both were -- cars. He wanted to see the tag on mine just to be sure there really was a 10 10 car made. Mine is late, 08A.

As for the reasons, I can only speculate. Here is my theory. The body work (especially where the roof panel meets the quarter panel) was generally pretty crappy. Black shows everything. I know on my car, I releaded that area because I just couldn't live with the waviness. I know, it is now officially over restored. Too bad. I believe they just got a lot of customer complaints as a result. BTW, the lower 1 inch of most of my tail panel had no (that is right zero) black paint on it; just primer. I over restored that as well.

I would definitely be interested. Is there any way I can get pictures of the car as well as some more information regarding it. Thanks
