72 nova trim tag
decoding help?
short story, this car now belongs to my duaghters freind. It was his fathers . 7 years ago he was diagnosed with brain cancer and finally several weeks ago succumbed to the disease. The car has not moved during that time period. I have offered my service to help them ready the car for sale. Cleaqn it up , get running..safe etc..they want to move on, the boy needs money for college and has no knowledge of old cars. When I get it into the shop I will post what I find and more pics. From what I saw it looks solid! thanks (please no offers to buy. This is not a sales add) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_2671.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_2672.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_2673.jpg |
Re: 72 nova trim tag
Albert, First line is year "72" then "11427W" means v8 built at Willow Run Mi. Next set of numbers are body sequence numbers. Second line "761" means dark green cloth bench seat custom interior. "43" is body color gulf green. "A52" means bench seat. Either the "B" before this means the car has a black vinyl roof or the "G" after it means the car has a medium green vinyl roof... Not too sure on the other numbers. May be build dates..
Hope this helps... I'm no expert.... Rich |
Re: 72 nova trim tag
Some clarification on line #3
The first "B" is part of the build date, the Mo. # is covered over, B is 2nd week. the "G" is the interior trim color including hard painted surfaces. Green. The #3 is the exterior trim level. on this car vinyl top trim, side window trim, and body side trim. Note the trim level could be blank, 1, 2, or 3. Last #'s I am not sure on, scheduling of sequence ? Mike |
