In 2006 I was at BJ for two days and if I remember correctly, that bus sold for 6+ mil. I do remember that a couple of guys from Canada were jumping for joy when the gavel fell as the rumor going around was that they paid 600k and had it restored.

I have always considered restorations being a good indicator of the health of the hobby. If the number of requests for concours restorations is any indicator it is definitely at fever pitch. I have never seen so many people wanting quality restorations and not just dust and fluff work. We have never been busier than we are today, both in restorations and inspections. Absolutely crazy in 2014. I think the hobby is VERY strong.

That's good to hear. I agree-restorations are a thoughtful investment of resources and time compared to the sometimes impulsive environment of the auctions. If people are commissioning concourse restorations, it's a good sign. Your restorations are good for the cars too, so &quot;win-win&quot; [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/beers.gif[/img]

I guess I will see in April how healthy things are. I have some ODD parts to take down south this spring. I have not seen any indication things have picked up. 8 years ago I could sell just about anything. Now people are spending sparingly on only what they need.

Funny, I watched a bit of the Bj and Mecum and I thought prices were DOWN??? I seen the &quot;survivor&quot; Hemi RR for 80k and Mecum had the 69 Yenko Nova for 380. I thought the Yenko would be 500+ and the unrestored Hemi RR north of 100??

I also can't see MESELF in my eyes why cars like '69 Z25, Boss 302 and 340 Six pack cars going as high as they are???? That just seems like stupid money for them. But that's my thoughts.

Usually the big money bidders leave for dinner after a large collection goes through. [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif[/img] You never want your car going through during meal time.

A friend's 1971 blue on blue hemi roadrunner with 2,700 miles on it only bid to $170K. He was more than happy to bring it back home.
