Steering Wheel Restoration

Anyone here had any recent favorable experiences with any steering wheel restoration vendors? Gary's in PA is not up for consideration at this time

I did mine myself. There are several videos on youtube on methods to do it. Eastwood has a couple different kits with the materials. I was able to match the paint color with places on the wheel that were covered by trim. I used Duplicolor rattle can paint and clear coat. Depending on the condition of your wheel, mine only had a few cracks, if you have some basic body working skills you can do it. Just offering this as an alternative.

Bill, Dan over at Team Chevelle restores steering wheels. I don't know him personally but he helped me out a little with some trim for my Chevelle. Seemed like a knowledgeable guy. He's in Wisconsin.

Pat,

I did one myself about 20 years ago using the Eastwood kit, and I still have the booklet that came with it. It turned out OK for the car I did it for at the time (my wife's 69 Impala convertible) but let's just say my body working skills are not the best My biggest gripe was that I also used rattle can paint, sine I do not have any professional spray equipment.....the wheel always felt 'tacky' for years afterward. Did not want that again

Damien,

I did contact Dan in WI.....he says he has too many irons in the fire and wouldn't be able to get to mine for many months

In the meantime, I have sent my wheel here....

Keeping my fingers crossed.....
