Very cool item. Are the metallic brake shoes and special brake springs still present?

I will have to check, I figured the shoes might be there as they take forever wear out.

The rear was out of AZ and is very nice shape. I am assuming it would have been in a 67 SS 350.

Must be early. No traction bar? Maybe early z car. 3:31 road racing rear?

This would have been out of an SS350. It's too early for a Z and even the very first Z-28s had the traction bar.

Do you have any info or knowledge as to the front brakes associated with this rear end ?

Pretty tight casting to assembly date too.

They would have been metallic front drums with this early date and no traction bar, so this SS350 would have had the J65 metallic brake option.

According to the original owner of my 67RS/SS, the car had to go back to the dealer to have the traction bar attached. 12D production date. If I remember correctly, it was a November casting 12 bolt.

I was thinking that.....
J56 option superceded front Power Discs on '67's or just the early ones ?

At Carlisle 2 years ago I sold a rear set of used metallic shoes with GM stamps in ink and punch stamps to a fella for a Z/28.

Nice to know there are real Metallic Brake stuff still out there for First Gen Camaros
