Re: cowl tag
Im a chevelle guy but here is what I found doing a search; Not sure the W is correct since it appears in what would be the first group, likely has something to do with the windshield.
W= Passenger Side Exterior Mirror P= U63 Push Button Radio X= Z = Z03 Super Sport (note 2) (note 2) The Oakland plant used X for the Super Sport Package. Since the tag shows the OA for the Oakland plant it seems the X identifies it is an SS. The source is: http://www.novaresource.org/c63.htm hope this helps, Andy |

Re: cowl tag
Nice Car. Here's what I know/think:
11E =November, 5th week 1962 body build date. 63-437 ='63 2-dr Hardtop/Coupe OA 6528 =Oakland Plant, Body Sequence #. (Colors as you mentioned) 702 =Black Bucket Seat Interior (not sure on the 7- and 28. Probably plant specific for interior items). 948 =Palomar Red Acc (OA does not list Acc Line #) W =Tinted Windshield (Some decoders list "F" for this but believe "W" is correct for this OA plant case & '64+). P =Z01 Comfort and Convenience Package (Many places list this as PB Radio for many years but few Corvair, Nova & Camaro people got together and showed that data points to C&C and Fischer Body body mods needed for it. Corvair guys published). X =Super Sport M35 =Powerglide Trans 2933 =Plant Specific Code, don't have info. Paul |
