Who restored '69 Yenko N579518? HO/black stripes

This is the car that was at Seattle Mecum in 2015. My friend Gary owns it now, and he's floored at the quality of the restoration (he's super picky), and how well it has held up since '07. I was guessing Super Car Workshop, but I can't find anything that confirms that or identifies another restorer. All info welcome, PM if you don't want to shout it out in front of the world. Thanks:)

Not a SCW car. I think thats the old Marc McCartney Yenko, then Ron Vohees, then Steve Sandlin who put white stripes on it, then Irwin Kroi who put the correct black back on...BKH

Thanks for clearing that up Brian, and for the suggested owner history. I think I have the old Dec '82 Super Chevy with the Marc McCartney-owned feature article, I will give that to Gary. Nobody knows who did the restoration work? The paint, fit and finish are exceptional everywhere on the car.

Hemming Muscle Machines did a feature on Irwin's ZL-1 Camaro several years ago and in the article it states he had that car restored by Corvette specialist Bob Caruso at Billy Bob's Fast Expensive Cars. In the article it also states they had previously done work on some of Irwin's other cars. I don't know if they restored the Yenko, but they do have a website with a phone number so the new owner could call and ask them.

Brian how many of the first 50 have ya'll restored and have any been unmolested when you got them? I was wondering what you have seen as far as the rockers being blacked out on the X66 Yenko's.

Re: Who restored '69 Yenko N579518? HO/black stripes

We have had a few, and original paint ones. No doubt about the original paint Daytona Yellow car with black rocker. Olympic Gold X66 had black color is the jambs, and was restored with black rockers. Rallye Green was restored with black rockers, but had been a full repaint, so no evidence of black anymore. there have been others. All had black tail panels...BKH

Re: Who restored '69 Yenko N579518? HO/black stripes

Was wondering if the front fenders had black traces?

The Bill Hunter Yenko had black rockers on the body (probably when it came through the wall to Chevrolet), however looks to have had them resprayed in the touch up booth at the end of Chevrolet assembly, (or maybe at Yenko although I doubt a car would leave with black body rockers and yellow fender rockers.)

* the trim was clearly on the car when they were painted yellow as the tape job is horrible.
* The front fenders do not appear to ever have had the lowers blacked out.
