Anyone here from MO?

Saw this in the Pontiac forum and thought it could be of interest . . . not in a good way:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">If you are talking about the red Judge for sale in southern Missouri, I know a bit about it. It is from a salvage yard in Southern MO. This yard had MANY intact muscle cars until about 15 years ago. I'm talking pop the hood 396's in SS Chevelles, Original 400's in GTO's, etc. When I first got in the yard John would not let anyone in the yard. Luckily a friend of mine, his Grandmother went to high school with the owner, so I had an in. At some point the yard owner let some Camaro and Mustang clubs in the yard, guess what?, a bunch of VIN tags came up missing! This Judge was one of them. My brother has the Ram Air pans from that car. He could have bought the car many times over, but steered clear of it due to the missing VIN. On one of our trips there we did get to the partial VIN on the rear frame rail. I did not run the PHS. For what it is worth, a cop friend of mine did do a national search to see if that VIN is currently registered, he came back with nothing. I know what the full VIN should be for the car, but I would still steer clear of it.</div></div>

Re: Anyone here from MO?

this turd makes its round about every 2 months,,this is the 3rd or 4th round..last time it showed up on facebook and was linked.

i know 2 years ago i talked about it on PY too..someone finds it..they think they made the find of a lifetime..i think its changed hands at least 2 times now maybe more...

the story is well known..and the guy you quoted is a good guy..part of his story may be wrong, maybe partly right....it was the GTO club out of STL they came in on a tour and stole most every trim tag off every GTO, camaro, and firebird in the yard they could...(stupid thing is they damaged most of them)..at least...maybe some mopars too, but they got the blame..i remember people in the club bragging about it..and was about the time i decided i didnt need any type of car club to belong to nor need their approval..wrong is wrong..i was a teenager back then..barely driving if i got my memory right..i had 3 GTOs licensed and driving back then and they wanted young people in the club

the GTO club stole tags at White Pontiac salvage in Rolla..and some at Calwood auto salvage too in Calwood Mo..but Eddie Schmidt at Calwoods caught some of them..and he pretty much closed it for tours..this was so long ago..i am sure its forgotten because those people are dead or to the point they arent working on cars anymore..t

over the years..several cars came up with VIN missing at Johns..no proof of who stole what..no proof the camaro or mustang guys did anything

Johns is well known and has never been a secret..he bought cars out of the salvage pool in STL thru the 60s and 70s

15-18 or so years ago he sold every Hemi, 6 pak, and 440 car except 3 or so, to a guy in California...the story goes...and he has been selling cars for the last decade or so for $1500 to 2500 depending on what it is..theres really nothing cool left..no camaros to speak of..all the e-bodys but his personal cars are gone..just lots of GTOs mostly 66-7 (most gone by now) and big Pontiacs left...etc..and of course all the 4 doors any make...you could ever want...i'm sure by now he's crushing, or was when scrap was $300 a ton here in KCK

its never been a yard ya gotta know someone to get in..my cousins wifes family owns the farm next to it..was in there the first time 30 or so, years ago...and back then..it was something..thats for sure

he has rules and a sharp memory..you get one shot..if he thinks youre a jerk you wont get back in. The reason most people could never get in is because they showed up late in the day and he closed at 5 or so..and when they closed..they closed..and he didnt want to ride around in the yard looking for people at 5..no big deal..show up at 10..you got a look if he tghought you where genuine...he was a human lie detector and could read you....been like that for decades...

most of the Pontiac guys here are members there...

since ive been in KCK ive neet dozens and dozens and dozens of people that go there often even recently as a year ago..its just picked apart now..the retirement slide is in effect..

i dont even know if John is there daily anymore..he has to up there in years..his kids where involved..but who knows..my cousin passed away etc..and i lost track of it all..

Re: Anyone here from MO?

Lot of similar cars missing tags floating around northern Kansas/ southern Nebraska. Incidentally, is this the yard that the orange 70 Hemi Road Runner came out of?
