Curious about 70 Yenko Duece from Maryland

In the early 80s, I recall seeing a Hugger Orange Yenko Deuce sitting by a transmission shop outside of Church Hill, MD on Delmarva. No engine or trans...black interior as I recall and very rusty sheet metal. It had been raced extensively and at that time, was just sitting derelict and was not for sale under any circumstances. I think the owner was tired and irritated with people constantly asking if the Deuce was for sale.. By chance, 10-ish years later, I stopped by and the car was still there and the owner told me a guy was driving down from NY to buy it, but I could have it for $8k...eek...too much money for me then and I really had no idea how rare the Deuces were, so I passed. It disappeared not long afterward and I always wondered what happened to the car. Based on the registry, there were only a handful of HO Deuces...does this story and location fit any known Deuces...just curious whatever happened to the car. And no, stupid me did not think to take pics at the time...urgh.

That Deuce has been restored. My FB Deuce was near it in the Yenko Showcase at MCACN a couple years ago. Owned by a real nice guy.

Thanks livettes...I probably walked right past it and never thought to ask. Very glad it was restored. This area is VERY rural, so it was really odd to see a Yenko, and that is the only Yenko-anything I ever saw growing up. Just a fond memory from my youth

That is Dennis' car. It was parked next to Midway Automatics in Chestertown, MD area for years. One of 10 orange deuces, its a 4 speed with p/s car. It was bought by a guy in PA who stashed it in a barn till Dennis bought it - probably about 10-12 years ago??

There are as-found pics here on the site somewhere....

Pete and Marlin - thank you both for the replies...I checked out the pics from when Dennis purchased the car and that is exactly as I remembered it...except I recall seeing a lot more rust than the photos reveal. The car was just outside Church Hill, MD, but Centreville is a more recognizable town around here. I also recall hearing the car ran a BBC and the pics of the headers confirm that. Also, the stories of the owner do not surprise me...from what I understand, he was pestered a lot about that car for over a decade. I recall a scoop on the hood...more of a Grump-lump style...but there's no hole in the hood?...I wonder if my memory is not as clear as I'd like to think? Everything else is spot-on. Not sure what the previous owner paid, but I was told $8k...but if I had shown the owner the cash, he may have changed the price. Odd duck for sure. Also, I am pretty sure the car left Church Hill after the Spring of 1991. I was married in April of 91...and went to see the Deuce just before I bought a '30 Model A project in July 91.

Congrats to Dennis...the restored result of stunning!

Yes, the car was raced with a 454 and it had a bolt on hood scoop (there are small holes in the hood where it was located). The car was bought from Lee Slaughter Used Cars in Delaware, and the story goes that it had come from NY - although I think Dennis has confirmed that it was a Colonial sold car from VA....
