3927186 SBC Heads
Is there a way to tell if casting number 3927186 was an original 2.02 head opposed to a 1.94 being opened up other than the screw in studs and guide plates. I seem to recall this being discussed before but could not find it in searching the data base. Thanks, Larry

Re: 3927186 SBC Heads
There's no way to differentiate other than by how the castings are machined. Original 2.02 heads will have an additional sweep cut in the chamber to unshroud the intake valve, but any competent machine shop can duplicate this when converting a 1.94 casting to a 2.02.

Also, only 1970 and up 186's have screw in studs.
