Repro spiral shock issues

Hey guys, wondering if anyone else has experienced issues with repro spiral shocks. I put them on my rs z28 survivor and the car rides horrible. When you push on the bumper it's solid, front and rear both the same.

I unbolted the shocks and the car sat higher, bounced nice. It's like the shocks are holding the car down. The shocks push in nice but are crazy hard to pull down.

I bought these from H.B.C, where Jim pretty much insisted a problem with my car and not the shocks, also unreturnable since I "installed" them. (Not impressed)

Hopefully someone can chime in that has seen issues with them. Thanks!

I heard about some issues with them a few years ago and when I ordered some from D&R last year they said they weren't aware of any issues. I was told they were made by Hugger Performance which turns out Hugger is also owned by Steve Drueck who happens to own D&R. I ordered a set but haven't installed them yet. I'm assuming he is having them made offshore but don't know if they are the same ones HBC offers?

Are the boxes marked as being from Hugger? Maybe call D&R and ask about warranty if they are the same ones offered through Heartbeat.

Steve is a good guy. I am sure he would help you out.

I don't remember who the manufacturer was but I bought mine thru Classic Industries and have had only one problem...the oil had leaked out on one of the shocks inside the shipping box. I sent it back to them and they replaced it at no charge. But other than that I have installed these same shocks front/rear of my Camaro and had no issues---knock on wood!

I wrote D&R asking if Hugger Performance could/would replace the Upper/Lower rubber bushing where the crossbar/crosspin goes through ??????

The repop spiral shocks are good only if you have a show car. If you drive your car, I wouldn't use them. Already been there. Tried them out years ago when D&R first had them in stock. My Camaro didn't ride very nice when installed, and these were the fronts only. They pulled out hard but pushed in way easy. So, I returned them and received my money back. All the shocks they had in stock seemed to be the same, so they agreed to refund my money. Looks like they haven't changed sense.
