Just taking an inventory of some of my parts in the storage area and noticed the assembly stamp on this 512 block. Come back as a manual trans, 427, 390hp, full size, Supersport, high performance.

It would be cool to re-unite it with the original car vin 19J140346

That's not a bad thing is it?

69 SS427 Impala with manual trans. Nice. I sent the VIN to a friend who runs a registry for all things big block big cars to see if he has it in his registry. Will let you know.

I checked my registry and it wasn't in there. Can you post a pic of the full pad or a close up of the vin? According to my list, the car would have shipped around October 25th, which is almost 2 months before the engine was assembled. I suspect the vin is a little higher than 140

Did Janesville CON VIN stamps all look that funky, or is there something nefarious going on here?

Looks like part of it was restamped. Anyway to get a clearer picture? (Sorry to be a paint, LOL) Looks like 19J1___46 is the original stamp and 4?03 is stamped over part of it. Looks like an 8 behind the 4 in the restamped part. If so, that fits in! 19J18__46. 9J182 would be about the earliest for that engine assembly date. I have 2 1219 engines in my with 182 vin. Very interesting block!

Bingo! you are absolutely correct, but it looks like it there is another stamp on there as well. Assembly stamp looks good though - agree?

odd that the re-stamp "4" is just like the other "4" though - hmmmm

Thanks for the clear photo! Assembly stamp looks good. Looks like a 2nd vin was stamped over the first one! I wonder if they were correcting the vin.

Now we need to figure out what both numbers are.

I think its 19J196403 stamped over 19J196546. I'm not certain if it's a 6 in 196 but seems to be. Is the top of the 6 (last digit) go as far over as the top of the number we think is a 6 (stamped under the 0). The top of it looks to big to be an 8. Doesn't look like a 9 based on the left side.

Also, I think the digit behind the 3 is a 5 because you can see a flat top and also the bottom end of the digit.

Would be interesting to see a shot from a little father out to see the end of the 6 on the right and also if part of the 19 can be seen from the 2nd stamp.
