Clutch adjustment
Everything is new; flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, t/o bearing, clutch fork, z bar and adjustment rod. Car has zero miles on it, and yet with full adjustment the clutch only grabs at the very high end of the pedal. What did I do wrong this time....????

Is the engagement rod original?
edit: oops, i see you are saying that the "adjustment rod" is new. How does this adjustment rod compare to an original one? I can measure mine tonight. |
Wait till after it breaks in, that will probably change.

This may not apply, but here goes. Back in the day there were basically two TO bearings used. A short and a tall. If the diaphragm PP was flat when bolted down, the tall TO was used. If the diaphragm was extended out, the short TO was used. Just sayin' ... TAZ

Anyone got a pic of a BB vs SB adjustment rod for a Nova?
|
There is also a medium length t.o. bearing normally used on Pontiac applications. I will find those three numbers in a few.
|
Ok, these are BCA numbers so you may have to interchange them.
Long = 1697C Short = CC1705C Medium = 1377C You be the judge which one will be best for your application. Best to look at them in person and not just look at pictures of them on the net. |
Thanks all,

If your clutch grabs high off the floor, then you need to shorten your adjustment rod,is that the direction you are going? How much free travel do you have?
