Wanted a 1968 casting number 3935440 4 bolt 396 block .Must not have any sleeves. Dated April ,May , June 1968. Thanks Call /text 9063371025 or 9063373928 shop

That date is too early. The assembly date is 0618 . End of May beginning of June date would be perfect. Thanks

I have the pop and the assembly date is 0618.

I understand about the assembly date...our 68 L78 motor was assembled on 6/10/68. I believe our engine block has a May date..I will have to check.

Other bolts-on will have earlier dates...especially those that were batch produced like carbs, dist, alt, water pump, etc.

The later builds do tend to have casting dates for the engine closer to the assembly date...but, it's not a cast in stone situation. The block offered with the May date would seem to be ideal...but, since it will never be the VIN motor, a few weeks shouldn't make a difference in the value or presentation.

I will get you some photos of the items we discussed this weekend.
