Proper finish question - firewall splash shield

What's the proper original finish of the metal clip shown on the right? I'm guessing natural metal?

I’d call them a natural spring steel. Place in some evaporust and then protect.

the one of the early 69 Z I had appeared like heat treated spring steel, blueish.
