72 Chevy dated front bumper with chalk?
I came across chalk numbers written on the inside of my 72 Chevy Nova. Do you know if they did this on the assembly line back then? It looks like a GM written number that fits my year of my car. I thought maybe this was a junk yard replacement bumper but looking closely i believe its a legit assembly line dated numbers with chalk.

Chalk? Like you would use on a chalk board (or sidewalk)?
Typically a grease pencil "China marker" was used in the assembly plant. K http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...9.jpg~original http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...0.jpg~original http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...0.jpg~original |
Keith,
Yes... good photos of sequencing there where the last two numbers of the assembly sequence identify the designated build. |

also paint marks on some of the front suspension components, ... hood and fenders, new bumpers. Written on the Chevy Nova site.
Did some more reading up on the GM assembly line grease pen markings and found this on a Nova car site online. Chalk marks, sorry was not positive what they call that. My Nova looks like a legit grease pen numbers written on the front bumper. |
