rs gas cap, is it OEM ?
This cap was on my car when I bought it 15 years ago. My car is an SS, so I bought one of those sideways Classic Industries caps for it. I always believed it to be an original, but cleaning it up today, I don't see any part number cast in it. It does have a casting clock in the recess for the rs bar, but that's all I can find. Wondering if it is real or an early repop.

Yes original assembly line.

Most (all?) reproduction caps are screwed together, not riveted.

I bought a NOS cap that had the screws. I destroyed a RS cap, that was in worse shape than the one pictured, to get the rivets. Removed the screws and installed the old rivets. They fit snugly,(not snug enough to need a press) but I used JB weld for added security. May help somebody else doing the Judging thing.

Thanks guys. I will be selling it and didn't want to misrepresent it.
The repro SS cap i got 14 years ago from Classic HEADQUARTERS, not Industries, is riveted. Too bad they riveted them all off clock and the SS sits crooked... |

Post #546. Chick tells how to swap screws for the rivets. I have one of these caps somewhere. https://www.camaros.net/threads/time...8#post-1728408 |
