One of the 96 with less than 1/2 accounted for or considered the real deal. Shown at MCACN took home the Gold as well as best Oldsmobile.

There are of course more fakes and clones than real cars. This one is unique in many ways, but is also a W27 aluminum rear end car. Records show that less than 400 of these rear ends ever made it into production "W" machines. It was offered here for sale prior to selling at the Russo and Steele auction in California.

I'd even take it a step further than that. It's a California car with the "California modified" W-27 cover to account for the additional line. Talk about rare!

Ok but you need to be an obsessed Oldsmobile nut to even know this aspect of a California W-27.

It's obvious why Lee bought this car....just look at the firewall.

Ok, you got me on that one. What is a California modified W-27 cover?

I used be at Hansel Olds most every day in the late 70's, early 80's-since I worked at Hardin Olds. We'd dealer trade parts every day :)

Lee's former Olds is amazing !:headbang:

Great question. One of the fins on the aluminum W-27 cover had to be removed (instructions in the PIM IIRC) to allow for the additional fuel line which was required for California cars.
