Waste Management Golf Event...

I know there are some golfers on the SYC...curious what you think of the beer can shower at 16 yesterday...and again today following a hole in one ??
I have kind of gotten used to the rowdy yelling and excitement...but throwing beer cans is whole different movie. -wilma:confused2::confused2: |
Don't they have Fancy Driving range Ball retriever machine that could be modified for cans? LoL.
That's why No Beer cans allowed at my Local Race track (1/8 mi) imagine the carnage cutting a Perfect Light,,,,,,,, all in fun |
Yeah, it may be going too far as I saw some of them come close to players. I don’t remember it being that way in years past. I actually went to the tournament several years ago and was surprised at the volumes of alcohol!
On the other hand were most tournaments are quiet this one really gives a players the sensation of playing in a football stadium! |
I've worked this event before. It's one continuous party from sun up to sundown. Most of the players love it....some like Tiger Woods hate it.
I was fortunate a few times to get "Greenskeeper" passes for the 16th hole. It's crazy. The throwing of projectiles is a new one on me... |
Watch the videos, Hilarious.

This is nothing new, they've been doing it for years, and the very reason they installed 3 tier seating around this Hole.
I think it's great. Stuffed Toys on Ice Rinks move over. |
LOL..

Players Harry Higgs and Joel Dahmen decided to take off their shirts after making putts on 16...then the beer cans rained down.
Another player missed a birdie putt on 16 due to possible 'can damage' on the green... I enjoy having fun on the course, but these things don't belong on the PGA tour. |
Partying is one thing, but I’d assume several hundred beer cans, full, or partially full would make a green nearly unplayable. Bet there’s no beer cans next year.
You’d probably have a lot of explaining to do if you were in the crowd and got stopped by a cop on the way home. |
I enjoy golf a lot and proper etiquette is a long tradition. With that said, this tournament has a long history of being one big party and rowdy at times. Golf needs to adapt a bit to keep the game relevant for the younger generation. I've attended a couple of Ryder Cup tournaments and they are a lot of fun with the team atmosphere and they can get a bit boisterous, but the Waste Management is in a league of its own.
Perhaps a rule that only empty beer cans can be thrown as no one should waste a full beer. :-) |
