Original paint, and original lettering. Man I wanted this thing! But have nowhere to put it, and no time to go get it before the ad says it has to be gone. Sold for $6100 including fees. Seems like a steal with the history and originality. One of the vintage pics shows it already lettered, but still running the front factory white wall tires, and with 350HP on the hood. If that was honest at the time, then it was an L79 car. Factory 4-speed hole in a 2-dr post car also screams high performance car when new. If so, it was one of 203 2-dr post L79's built. Just a tick away from Z16 rarity! Hopefully the winning bidder does the car justice - fix the roof and the hood, put a correct rubber mat in it, and L79/M20 drivetrain, and take it to the strip! |
It’s got a 4-speed steering column in it & while I lean heavily towards L79 heritage heck, everything is long gone! I can’t believe how well those door panels survived!

I saw that one too, neat buy! Could the factory roof be saved?
|
I was watching this one closely. Did some research on replacement roof panels and you would have to find a donor post car as the coupe roof is a bit different. Then the predicament would be where to splice it in and where to blend the paint. A great car for the money still in my opinion.

It is a cool car. Looks like a 283 call out on the fender.

Wish you had posted this before the auction ended. NY is a long haul but I may have taken a run at it for what it sold for.
I would attempt to save the roof. With 6-7 porta powers, patience and a heat gun, I believe about 90% of that would come back. I don't see but a few creases deep enough to stretch. Paintless dent removal to the extreme... Yes, it would need final filler and paint, but so would a replacement. I'm, also, going to put, at least, a 50% chance that this will be back up for sale shortly with some improper and crude roof repair and a few other "improvements" for about 20k... |
