Cream puff 68 Road Runner

Local July 4th show , all original including paint and vinal top according to owner . Did not see any indication of repaint . Only 383 Magnum but the 4 speed is like cherry on top .

Relatively minor detail, but I'm pretty sure a pistol grip shifter is not OEM for a 68 Road Runner. Nice car!

Glad you mentioned that , car would look much better with correct shifter . The owner said he has only had car for a year or two , did not ask if he installed shifter or bought it that way , did not think about shifter being incorrect till you brought it up . Looks like pistol grip came out in 70 . The only other thing out of place imo is the Sun Super Tach ll , car deserves to have a 69 vintage Super Tach .

I know the 69's had the Hurst shifters with the skinny round handle and a round shift ball. Not sure if 68's had the same or if they still had the Inland shifter like the 66 & 67 :dunno:

All 68 Roadrunners were 383HP cars, no other option. Inland shifters were the shifter used up to a certain cutoff date, but I'm sure the specific date and that also changed from assembly plants and A&B body chassis.

One thing to note, Hurst shifted cars have a "REVERSE" light on the dash. Inland shifter cars do not have this due to a reverse lockout mechanism (and the reason they were so junky!).

Pistol grip = 1970

Just some added info!

I think I see a reverse light (amber colored) on the dashboard next to the ashtray. And I think the Hemi was the one and only engine option in 68.
