69 Hugger Orange #'s Z-28, M22 early car

Here's a rare find, early original drivetrain M22 Z-28, rough but restorable and high asking price. I think you would be ok if you restored it yourself, but refreshing to see in a world of fake Z's. Maybe a member here will bring her back to full glory....

Some clumsy errors on the repro window sticker.

Makes me wonder about the rest of the 'docs'.

Neat car to clean up and drive as is - would be a magnet at any cruise night vs. a perfectly restored car.

I see on the bill of sale the 3.73 posi was extra cost. I thought that was standard?

William 05-09-2024 03:01 PM

Standard Z/28 axle was a 3.73 open. Don't want positraction on a road course. Posi required with 3.73 ratio for other applications.

According to the docs, this was a customer order. Final-assembled on or about November 26, 1968, delivered December 20, 1968. Took 25 days to transport it 750 miles?

The trans stamp P 9 R11 C? (Oct 11). If so it would be to early to have the "C" at the end. Carb pictured is 924 (4th week February 1969).

Final assembly date is my birth date. Pretty cool.

Want. What do you guys believe is a realistic price? Thinking more like 55.

well, he's a dealer/flipper so the asking price is jacked up. It is a rare find in this condition these days. Considering it needs $40,000 thrown at it to restore to a decent level $60-$65,000 might be a good buy.

Transmission is a restamp. As Danzo says, too early for C suffix which was a running change in late calendar year 1968. The POP doesn’t have a C on the transmission code. The partial VIN stamp on the transmission doesn’t match the pad stamp, easiest difference to spot is the numerals 1 and 4 which are entirely different fonts.
