There is a Chevette Facebook group with almost 6000 members.

Having a hard time believing 6,000 Chevettes survived.

My parents bought one new in '77 for my mom to drive and to tow behind their motorhome. I don't remember them having any problems with it. I had a '76 when I was 16 back in nineteen hundred and eighty four. Other than a broken timing belt it was a good car until I wrecked it. My cousin had one. I think it was an '82. She never had any problems with it. I'd rather have a Chevette than some front wheel drive POS.

I know... Way too much Chevette lovin goin on here..

I bought a new 1977 Chevette for $2,500 never did anything to it but change the oil & filter then bought a new 1979 Chevette kept it for 5 years never had a problem with it.

Not saying they weren't reliable.
So was the "Buick Opel by Isuzu". I was the Opel mechanic at Gandara Buick in OKC in the late 70's and that Japanese built "Opel" was very reliable. When was the last time you saw one?

Worked at a aluminum foundry back in the 70's which cast the aluminum intake manifolds for the Chevette's.

My step dad and I road tested one in 1976. It did not have power steering and for a light car the steering felt very heavy and slow. I'm vaguely remembering that the steering wheel was at some sort of weird angle in relation to where you sat in the driver's seat. It's been a long time but that is how I'm remembering the experience.

You probably don't have to own one to be a member of the FB group. Keep in mind, the Flat Earth Society is still a viable entity.

I know a guy who drove a “Vette”.
