VIN tag problem?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/256721859880

Stated VIN 124379N563499

“This 1969 Camaro Convertible has undergone a meticulous restoration..."

Not a convertible VIN

Igosplut 11-19-2024 04:06 PM

OooPs. Wouldn't want to be in that persons position

Stefano 11-19-2024 10:06 PM

Thanks for the heads up but at this point could just be a typo?

Lynn 11-20-2024 02:30 AM

Exactly what I was thinking, given that there is no pic of the vin tag.

But, if it isn't a typo, that is one big matza ball hanging out there.
What a can of worms that could be. Can you imagine purchasing this car, then having it confiscated by law enforcement? Don't think it can't happen.

I couldnt imagine buying it for that color.

Lynn 11-20-2024 06:56 PM

Was thinking the same thing. Those silver stripes don't help.

I think there is a song about that..."Electric Blue" by Icehouse

I sent the seller a message via Ebay to alert him to the VIN situation. I'll let you know if he responds.

I messaged him early this morning about it, without telling him exactly what the problem was, only that he might want to double check the VIN. Well, now he has amended the wording in the auction, and I think he's got a real problem

L_e_e 11-21-2024 01:15 PM

WOW, Here is the amended disclaimer.

"Important Disclaimer:
If you're looking for a pedigreed, numbers-matching car, good luck the 69 Camaro market is the greyest of the grey and I'll save you and me both some time this isn't it. The VIN was replaced at some point during the multi-year restoration. The VIN# "37" denotes that the car is a 69 Camaro sport coupe which it is obviously not. However, the car is titled and insured in my name and required nothing special to do (same as any other car). Now all that said, if you don’t care about originality and want to experience a beautifully restored, clean iconic American Muscle car with all the right stuff that you can enjoy today for far less than the cost of building one or buying an “original” this is the deal for you.
Let me know if you have any questions I am happy to answer."
