'67 Chevelle - possible L78?
This car is local to me...can check it out if anyone is interested. No ties to seller or car.

Opening info states, "transmission: automatic".
Description states "matching number engine and transmission still in car" No A/T with L78 in '67. |
I saw that...and I know the odds are it's not an original L78 car, but thought it worth putting out there.
|
The description choices like to auto correct to automatic. I've had that happen to ads I've placed and it's irritating to get it to stay on manual for trans. I don't put much value on that part of a marketplace ad.
If the seller is hoping to fund his retirement, he is going to need to supply a LOT more pictures of the matching engine and transmission. Betting the body needs major rebuilding from rust too. |

I reached out to the seller and he responded...as soon as I asked about codes, trim tag, etc, he went silent.

The one pic of engine parts shows 1968 or later heads with temp sender holes. Based on that, the sort of ad it is with no useful pictures, and the disappearance when Steve asked for trim tag and codes, I give it about a 0.00001% chance of being an L78.
Que Lloyd Christmas: "So your saying there's a chance!?!" No, not really. |

Heard from seller this evening and I'm going to check out the Chevelle tomorrow morning. He sent me some additional pics...has three pedals, but was converted to automatic. Engine pad should be real easy to see. I'm looking for an EG code stamp, correct?
|
Trim Tag date of 09D (late September 66) precludes it being an L78, since they weren't available until late spring of 67. That thing looks awfully rough.
|
Great point Bill...I'm still gonna go take a look...morbid curiosity and it's 15 minutes away from me.
