Horns and Evaporust

I just bought a set of horns for my 69 chevelle and was told they do not work so before sending them out to be rebuilt I thought id soak in evaporust . Any chance anyone has tried this before ? My last set I got to work by spraying PB blaster in the little screw hole but they don't sound to great ! Thanks

If you’re sending them to Gary, just do it. Rust is only 1 of the factors the cause the horn to fail, but not the primary IIRC. Moisture also causes corrosion on the points assembly. Considering it’s mounted on the front where it’s attacked by rain, snow, sand, and everything else, I’m surprised the last as long as they do. I’ve attached a few pictures of a horn that Gary started but didn’t finish because a found a matching date coded horn.
