New Member Here – Classic Muscle Fan Joining the Chang?
new to the Yenko.net community and excited to dive into the world of Yenko Camaros. My background’s in wrenching on Japanese and Miata platforms (I’ve been working on a turbo 1.6 build in my old Miata), but I’ve always had a passion for classic American muscle. The legendary Yenko name and that raw Camaro performance are exactly why I’m here.
A few things I’d love to learn from you all: • What are the most common preservation and restoration challenges with vintage Yenko Camaros (trim, drivetrain, chassis)? • Where should I source period-correct parts or high-quality reproductions—especially badges, carburetor rebuild kits, and upholstery? • Any favorite shops or regional contacts with expertise in first-gen Camaros or Yenko-specific upgrades? • Maintenance and reliability tips for daily-driving one of these classics (fluids, chassis care, cooling, etc.)? I’m hoping to eventually place a ‘70 or ‘71 Yenko Camaro in my garage. In the meantime, I’m soaking up knowledge, planning what to look for in a survivor/restore candidate, and dreaming up potential build details. Thanks for letting me join—you all seem like the perfect group to learn from. Looking forward to being part of the journey! |
Welcome. There is a lot to learn regarding Yenko vehicles, so some Google searches will certainly help you get more information that will be valuable. There are a lot of articles and books written that will give you the basics as well as a lot of the details.
Regarding Yenko Camaros, Don Yenko only made them in 1967-1969 as far as I know, and then again as late 2nd Gen Yenko Turbo Z's. I could definitely be wrong, but I don't remember ever seeing an early 2nd Gen Yenko Camaro (1970+). Best of luck on your journey. |
Tom Clary owns a early 2nd gen Yenko Camaro, along with a '69 Yenko Camaro and a '70 Yenko deuce.

Could you be thinking of Baldwin/Motion Super Camaros? Now there's plenty of photos of early 70 Camaros out of that dealership. |

This post has the linguistic feel of an AI bot.

My spidey sense is tingling from reading this, especially the “especially badges, carburetor rebuild kits and daily driving”.
