How do you tell the difference on the ones everyone wants

It's the depth of the SS insert. Here is a deep one which is original and desired. The one you show is the later replacement and has a shallow insert.

1/8 inch vs. the factory 1/4 inch,in both bolt on and clip on versions are most desirable.
