When was the LS/7 454 available fromGM?

I was curious to when the LS/7 454 was available over the counter? Was it late 1970? What is the deal with the 69 Motion Camaro with the 454 LS/7 motor? Was this car built well into the 70 model year?..BKH

Dream Car Garage did a series on the restoration of a 1969 Daytona Yellow 454 LS7 Camaro. In an early episode, they interviewed the owner who had a pile of original paperwork on the car. His documentation showed that it was purchased from Motion as a 454 Camaro. They didn't say if it was a LS7 crate motor or something that Joel built up for the original owner. They did say that Joel told them he built two 1969 Camaro's with a 454 engine. I would guess that Motion would build the 69 Camaro until the 70 model became available.

I have a Chev. memo to the dealers stating the LS-6 was available for ordering beginning Nov. 1, 1969, so I would assume the LS-7 was available around that time. Since the '70 camaro was not in the showrooms until mid Feb. of 1970. I would imagine there were '69's still around into 1970.
