Re: 69 camaro weight ???
thanks !
i've seen these articles on these shootouts. (F.A.S.T. ect..) i saw a couple with wieghts at like 3700-3870 with driver and that seemed kind of heavy to me. I guess i'll have to weight it at the track to get an exact weight. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif |
Re: 69 camaro weight ???
At the Pure Stock drags, our '69 Yenko Camaro, auto & PS, weighed in at 3740 with a 1/4 tank of gas and Rob as the driver (160 lbs). A little on the heavy side, but original sheetmetal, glass, etc.

Re: 69 camaro weight ???
Yep. That weight was on a certified scale, and with a tank of gas it goes over 3800. It surprises a lot of people when I tell them, as it did me, but you'd be surprised at the number of cars running NHRA stock eliminator that can't get down to their published shipping weights...
If I remember correctly, Pete's ZL-1/auto Camaro is just shy of 3500, as is (was) JJ's L-78 Nova (4-speed). |
Re: 69 camaro weight ???
69 Camaro's could use a little Jenny Craig Diet compared to 67,68 cars .My Z weighs 3480 with no driver and about a 1/4 tank

Re: 69 camaro weight ???
I may have been wrong on the weight? It has been 34 years since I had the car on a scale! I do remember putting a 100 pound battery in the trunk and a 100 pound piece of steel under the seat to get into C/MP https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

Re: 69 camaro weight ???
If you can find a feed mill or trucking company or someone that sells sand and gravel there in Sarasota you can probably get your car weighed before you go to the track. Around here people are usually real friendly when you show up with a nice looking car, and are quite receptive to weighing it for you.

Re: 69 camaro weight ???
Definitely get on a certified scale somewhere. I've been everywhere from high-3400 to just shy of 3900 pounds, all in the same car, at different race tracks over the course of about 5 years. Kind of makes ya wonder how the REAL racers would deal with a 500 pound swing?!
