Could someone plz help with these numbers. I'm trying to figure out what this trany is from. I'm told it was behind a 427 425hp motor. thanks

Re: TH400
CQ is for a 427/335HP engine,used in the Bigger Chevrolet Passenger cars for 1969.
CX was the 427/425HP engine appliction. 69 is the model year. 255 is the day of the year=roughly September 10th 1968. 4143 is that Transmissions own serial number. |

Re: TH400
Mark
A 1966-68 CT TH400 code on the Passenger side tag is for series 10 & 20 Truck application. In 1969-70 there was no CT suffix tag.The series 10 & 20 Truck became CJ. Just to be clear,I am talking about the silk screened suffix tag on the Passenger side of the transmission. If a Transmission shows CT on the Drivers side,with 5 non VIN# related digits after it,that is a SERVICE REPLACEMENT coded Trans.,& the same as a CE Coded Engine block was defined. |

Re: TH400
Thanks Rick;
The trans I have came from a '68 Impala with a 275hp 327cid, but without a VIN on the pan rail I never knew if it was originally from that '68 Imp that I pulled it from. |
