He never does say how he knows it is a Motion conversion versus a car that was built with Motion catalog parts at some point in time by a previous owner as he says there is no paperwork. It does look like a cool car though and probably fun to thrash.

Neat looking car,but I don't know about the Motion part,looks like he just added the stuff to a base Nova (it's not an original SS, no disk brakes)Did he approach Joel,? I think a full engine transplant by Motion may have some paperwork.? Imagine if it was real and documented considering the Yenko 427 conversion cars are close to 500k these days.!

In the narrative of the auction, the seller states that the car has disc brakes. Maybe the power booster was removed due to a high lift cam (a vacuum issue).The car also has a big block heater core box. That too was my thought when I saw this car. That Motion decal looks like it's been on there a while but I realize that doesn't mean anything. Too bad he doesn't have any docs.

Definitely cool looking... wonder if Joel has anything on it, and if it truly was converted by him... Guy sure sounds positive it was, but doesn't expand on how he knows that for sure, or why he has no proof or paperwork. Looks like it had a color change, you can still see the original green in the trunk shot under the hinges...

It has a "BE" rear end? Would Joel have even known about the heavy duty BE rear since he didn't know about the COPO 427? Almost seems like somebody stripped down a COPO at one time and put the parts in a Nova. Can't see a "disc" brake pedal in the car either so it most likely isn't an SS. Looks like a small block car that had all the big block parts put into it including the heater core. Interesting car and it looks cool regardless of what it really is.

I'd like to get a closer look at the sidepipes, SS427 emblems, Motion decal etc. to see if you could get a better feel for how long they've been there.

The car just seems a little too "dressed" to me, like it's going out of it's way to have convincing signs of Motion w/o any paperwork. Sun gauges, a 'glass hood, and some Impala badges and an otherwise plain '71 Nova instantly gets alot more interesting, but that's still along way from a bonafide Motion converion.

It looks to have had the seat covers and windlace replaced fairly recently, so I doubt it's "barn fresh." If it truly is a '71 CE coded 427 then I'd say that's the strongest Motion clue it's got going for it, but even that is a longshot.

I was under the impression Motion typically stamped their CE engines with some sort of identifying marks for warranty purposes, to show they'be been blueprinted, etc? Is there any truth to this, based on known examples?

I personally saw, felt and went all over Joel's 70 Green Phase III Camaro that was being restored a while back (years) here on Long Island by Island Musclecar Restorations. He ended up yanking the car from them and had someone else finish it (he was still living on LI at the time)Anyway, I absolutely remember the engine (LS7?)having a specific Motion stamp on the pad, very unique.SULLY
