Mexico Chevelle with Ramair V

Just kidding about the Ramair V.

The guy that has the rag top BBC Camaro stuffed away in that building, came up with this very bizarre Chevelle. Some kid brought it up from Mexico but the locals wouldn't issue a title, so he sold it to my friend Bill. I have the paper work on the car and will post some of that now, I will get some pics of the car later. Didn't have my camera with me today when I went over there.

This car was originally some flavor of Gold, but has been painted one time to a nice red. It still has sticker on the window from 1970 when it first hit the road. I have a feeling it has been in a barn or garage all its life. The car has some of the most bizarre things I have ever seen, will get more into that later.

For now here is some of the paper work.

This thing has special Mexico tags all over it, 5 core radiator, 200 KPH speedo, and the strangest interior among other things.

I'll try to get some pics in the next couple of days.

Don't get too excited, it's a 250 (4,097cc) 6-cylinder...still pretty cool paper, though...

Bud I'll trade you for the van!!

My son had a soccer tournament today, so I couldn't play with cars very long. I'll see if he'll let me down there tomorrow. I have no idea what the original motor was, they have some new model 350 type in there now. If that code really was a 6 bang, I wouldn't know. It did have a standard trans originally.

I have no clue how things worked back then on a Mexican car, but there are strange things all over the car. Strange tags, strange parts, funky interior. I'll hook it all up with pics, will be easier that way.

He also came up with a 65 Super Sport big car, I'll get pics of that too.

Re: Mexico Chevelle with Ramair V

While visiting Mexico in the 70's i was in a 73 Chevelle Taxi, that had a six and floor shift standard. This was a time that the base engine in a US Chevelle was the 350. Mexican cars were always "exports" when built by a US or Canadian plant. Many GM cars in Mexico were manufactured or assembled from KDFS kits from US plants,in South america. The 70 chevelle was probably no exception, and probably was a heater and radio delete.
I have a Oldsmobile Inspectors Guide from 1970 and it has a section on export vehicles and lists things like, headrest delete, export tires, polished not chromed bumpers, mirror delete, KPH speedometer, etc.So there were probably lots of cars out there and some may still survive that were assembled in other countries (Ie Camaro's in the Phillipines). Looking forward to the photos.

Any update on this Chevelle?
I would like to see & hear more about it if possible.
I dug up some 1969 & 1970 South American Chevelle dealership brochures I bought in a collection years ago from a man in Mexico and would like to compare them to this.
Thanks steved.
