American Muscle Car...

Just got finished watching a show on Speed Channel about Novas..Boy do these guys have a lot of homework left to do!!
Couldn't believe the number of technical things regarding engines, horsepower, etc. that were presented incorrectly. I think it was cool to see the lowly Nova get some recognition but at least they could have got the facts straight. Maybe SYC should consult on their shows to help get the facts correct. They kept showing a red deuce going down the 1/4 mile...looks like someones car from the site???

Striving to be politically, "Nova" correct...

The Yenko Nova they show on the track and the feature that they do on the Deuce were my car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif The previous owner Neal Robbins had the car at the Pure Stock Drags in MI in 1997 and that is when that was shot.

You know, I have had the same observation about the Barrett-
Jackson auctions and their lack of technical knowledge.
The on-air staff seem to always be asking the same
questions about SMOG systems, JL-8, stating that "this 69
Z/28 came with the cross-ram setup from the factory", bla-
bla-bla....... I had actually written BJ about bringing in
some experts from sites like this to be technical advisors
of sorts during the broadcasts. With all the high-5ing
going on between Craig and his minions ( during the
auctions ), you would think they could afford to bring in
some outside talent to advise on COPO, ZL-1, Z/28, L/78,
L/89, day-two cars, etc.. And that's just Chebbies.. The
Old's & Pontiac guys have their experts too. Of yes, the
Ford guys too.....

Come-on Craig! Part with some of that green stuff and
educate the viewers........... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Ya i saw that episode to. they had said that there was only 200 L79's made is that true?. Does that include 66 and 67 models?. Does that include any acadians?. Was that the rarest or best combo you could get?. Was there any COPO orders on any 66-67 nova's?. The show never answered much about the 66-67 years, they kind of quickly glazed over it.

Re: American Muscle Car...

There were 5481 L79 equipped Novas in 1966 with only 6 made in 1967. I believe that not all the L79 cars were SS, you could order the engine in a plain post sedan..super sleeper!

Watched some of last years B-J on TV last night...loved when Brock Yates asked Keith Martin if a '68 Z/28 had a powerglide or a 4-speed. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

Brock really has no business commenting on these cars...

Re: American Muscle Car...

I watched a little of the BJ auctions ( FL ) today on Speed.
You know, it seems that the "hosts" seem to know a whole lot
more about European cars than American Muscle cars. What
strikes me as odd here is that 95% of the cars accross the
block are American Muscle cars - no. So why don't they get
with the program and get hosts who know more about our
cars?

I think that's why they brought Keith Martin in but he obviously isn't getting any help.Alan DeCadanet know his "Lucas electrical" British cars but when it comes to American Muscle, all he can add to the conversation is "lump" when he's referring to a ZL-1 or a Hemi car.

I'm guessing Brock works for the no-host bar... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
