Won an Ebay auction..........now what?
 

I just won an Ebay auction for a 1973 L82 Corvette. Can someone look at the auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWA%3APIC) and tell me what your thoughts are on this car? Did I pay too much?
I guess my next step is to go look the car over. Anything in particular I should ask or look for? I know it seems like I just jumped into this thing and I did. I never really thought I'd win the auction to be perfectly honest but, now that I did, I'm kind of excited and scared at the same time.

I purchased a 1973 L-82, TH400, 3:55 ratio coupe, that was very low mileage California car. This car had 15,687 original miles on it. The "tank sticker" was totally readable still on the top of tank. The rear trailing arms still had their original white ink stamping on the inside of both! I paid $16,500 for it on August 5 2004, and sold it for $18,500 months later. I bought it so that a real Corvette enthusiast could have what appeared to be a NCRS bow-tie candidate, or Bloomington Gold survivor car. I advertised this car at Corvettes @ Carlisle in 2004, couldn't even get ANYONE interested in this car. They all wanted a convertible or manual trans or big block or all of the above! This car had all the original paperwork, and was PS, PB, PW, T/T, A/C, AM-FM stereo. Ontario orange with black custom interior.
Personally, I think these cars are next in line to jump, however I would never buy one again, it's sort of a love it or hate it type styling.

Dave, don't let buyer's remorse drive you crazy. Put 50,000 miles on it this summer, and drive it like you stole it. On the surface, I think you're OK. The '73's are good, attractive cars. If the chassis is sound and the motor is the original one you'll be fine. I read the description fast and didn't see anything about the original engine. Enjoy it with the tops off.

The engine is the original numbers matching L82. I am headed to Michigan this Sunday to get the car. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on trailering a car with a car cover. I have always been told that it's a no-no since the wind buffeting could cause the cover to rub the paint. Is this true?

That's great Barry, so you're saying the last "real" Corvette was built in 1972?

To my question in the previous thread; should I trailer the car with a car cover or without?

Never trailer with a car cover, unless it's an enclosed trailer. You will have no paint on any of the edges of the body panels when you arrive. Plus, think of the lawsuit that will ensue when the car cover flies off your car and lands on the windshield of a schoolbus full of nuns and orphans.
