If it's a numbers matching car, why have a 454 decal on the air cleaner lid?

Re: 1972 Chevelle SS 402 Matching Numbers 4-Speed
I don't get it. If it's a nicely preserved numbers matching car with 402 then why does the air cleaner and fenders have 454 stickers/emblems??
Am I missing something? Shouldn't it have 402 or 396 emblems/decals?? Rick H. |
Re: 1972 Chevelle SS 402 Matching Numbers 4-Speed
Rick H,,,,,There are two kinds of simple trim and decal changes. Some guys want sleepers and go the other way (396 emblems on LS6s). Other guys want the car to be a bit more than they have to the casual observer, like this car. Actually the only thing I dont understand is why the owner didnt make the quick change, at least for the auction so people would have no doubt in their minds about the car.......Bill S
