"360 HP For Chevy II"

From the March, 1962 Hot Rod (before Chevy offered the V8 in the Chevy II).

"Just go to your local Chevrolet dealer and pick up a parts kit to drop a high horsepower V8 into the lightweight Chevy II chassis."

A lot of that is the same pics I recall too but I think this is much more extensive than what I had ever read? .
Interesting how the parts were being made by GM including the block w/ recessed filter but they claim no plans for factory installations? . I don't see any mention of the unique bellhousing? .
Great stuff Bill! .

I wonder how many Bill Thomas conversions there were with the little nova in those days. Talk about a Supercar! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Nope! I gotta' take breaks and post cool old car magazine stuff or I'd go crazy! I'll be done studying at 0130 on Saurday morning when my checkride is complete. Then it's hurry-up and sleep fast so I can take my son and his buddy to the Northwest Nationals on Saturday. He's never seen/heard fuel cars (6 yrs old) so it should be a good time. Yep, got the ear protectors for the boys.

Back to the books! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

-----Thats at least one of the articles I was thinking of. Great cars, those little monsters!!! I still have another article in mind on the same cars that referred to the project car as "Bad Bascomb" but it was a bit lighter in nature. I know I read it, I really do. Usually I just forget things. I dont just arbitrarily come up with this stuff. I was sure it was "Hot Rod" as well, but maybe not. I wonder if Hot Rod did a follow up article because everybody showed so much interest???.........Bill S

From So Cal in 1970 came the Bad Bascomb's Ghost Nova flopper of Bill Bradford. The Fletcher chassised, Rat milled car was run from 68-70. Bill Bradford, Sr., owned the car, Bill Bradford, Jr., drove the car and brother Rick made up the crew in 1970. Name came from a character in an old Wallace Berry western movie... bank robber Bad Bascomb. The ghost part came when Bradford beat Big John Mazmanian at Irwindale, CA after a magazine writer made the statement the team "didn't have a ghost of a chance." Car was sold after the 70 season when, in Bill Bradford, Jr. words the team "stopped racing due to expense of building grenade motors to compete. Didn't have large enough sponsors at that time and had to finance the majority of the racing ourselves." Teams biggest win came at the Gold Cup Championship at Irwindale in 1969. It's always been my belief that those cars were what grew to be the urban ledgend of the "corvette motored novas" in the later model novas ie; the L79s, and even to a certain extent, the deuces.
