Opinions on this stamp

This is a WT master cylinder stamp. Does it appear that the pad has been ground down and then restamped?

Re: Opinions on this stamp
Bill,
Compared to my WT, yours looks like a different font. Mine seems to be more of a narrow type of font. (Sorry for the crappy picture, but I don't have a very good camera!) Ed http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/bertfam/WT.jpg |
Re: Opinions on this stamp
Here's a comparison of yours (left) and mine (right). Note how narrow my "W" is compared to yours and also note that the top of my "T" isn't as long as yours. This isn't to say yours is not correct. I have no idea if more than one font was used.

Re: Opinions on this stamp
Ed, Thanks for the help. It's not mine, Just doing some pre-purchase research. I have a real WT on one of the cars here. It also has a font like yours and has a surface as cast on the pad. The one on the left looks like the pad has been ground down to me.

Re: Opinions on this stamp
Yeah Bill. The pad does look a little deeper than mine.

Re: Opinions on this stamp
Bill...I just checked my WT M/C. It does not look at all like the one in your picture. It looks like the one Ed posted.

Re: Opinions on this stamp
That is a restamp absolutly.
I noticed the trend a few years back, that people were stamping these. It seems the 346 masters were used all the way through 1978, without a "thumb" pad, and no bleeders. One day on ebay, I looked at a horrible pad surface, and bleeders that were not in the right place. I started watching more carefully at them, and noticed more and more restamps. The hackers, are getting much better since back then. That surface is too smooth, and the WT should different then that one. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif I have 4 or 5 real ones, I will get a real good picture, as soon as my camera comes back from the shop.
