Shock Rebuilder???

Guys, who rebuilds the original oil filled shock absorbers?

Re: Shock Rebuilder???

I don't think anyone rebuilds them - wish they would. I think that is why they started repo'ing them.

I think you're right. We see the ads in Hemmings but I think those folks do the older friction style units. No one I've heard of doing our 'Spirals'............ yet.

Business opportunity? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Shock Rebuilder???

I agree, this would be a great business opportunity. I'm currently restoring a 1956 Mercedes 190SL 2 seat roadster which is an untouched 50yr old 70,000 mile virgin which has been in the same family since new. I have all the paper work including the original dealer's sale's form. I do not want to use aftermarket shocks on this vehicle and new original ones do not appear to be availible. I suppose it's either get these rebuilt (but by whom) or just paint them and put them back on.

Thanks for all of your help!

Honestly, how many original "dated" shock absorbers still
exist? Everyone tossed them at replacement time. I would
honestly have to wonder the extent of the rebuild pool for
an item such as a shock..... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif

I know we have a set or 2...and would LOVE to find someone to rebuild them...and it would be GRAVY if they rebuild them, and sell them in 90/10 and 50/50 varieties...https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

I have 4, all need to be rebuilt - pulled them off of junk yard cars.

I'd also like to see someone start a rebuilding service. I have a few of the spiral shocks here too.

DR Classic industries offers Repro schocks for the Camaro and I believe there may be some applications that will fit A Bodies. Check with them and they may have a source for other applications if there is enough demand.
