1968 GTO

Well you learn something new every day. Was watching the B/J on the road on speed and saw a 68 Goat with a Chrome front bumper??? Had the paperwork. It was a special delete of the Enduro front bumper. Never knew that you could order that. Only one I have ever seen https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

In the fall of 67 they were having a hard time getting the flexible paint to stick to the bumpers of the 68 GTO's.I had an early order in for my 68 R/A automatic and had mine held up because of the paint issue.Pontiac offered to put a chrome bumper on the car at that time, but I waited for the endura bumper. Also some special paint order cars came with the chrome bumper, the one I remember was a Tiger Gold car.

That is true. They were having paint issues. I do have a magazine article about this. The cars with the chrome bumper are rare, but they are out there.

Re: 1968 GTO

They made over 2000 GTOs with this bumper. Quite a lot for such a "rare" item! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif

Re: 1968 GTO

Sorry, I should not have used the term rare. But considering that 87,684 GTO's where made that year, it is not very common. Is "not very commom" a better term? I believe it was actually called Endura delete. I could be wrong on that though.

Re: 1968 GTO

Oh, I wasn't commenting on the word rare on how it was used - after all, what is a rare car? Less than 2500 made?

It's just for something that's obscure for many people, they made a decent number. 2000+ is nothing to sneeze at.

I believe Fred Simmonds of Pontiac claimed 16 of those cars had Ram Air.

The correct amount is 2,108 with crome front bumper and 16 RAM AIRS cars.
