Looks like a double stamp for the partial VIN on a 325 HP/manual transmission 396 block put together on our 16th president's birthday. I expect that a closer shot would show a weak "5" for where the 6th character would be in the partial VIN stamping. Now, as for originality of the stamping, you would need to take a higher res close-up of the pad. Can't see broaching very well.

I would say it looks pretty good. I have a T0416JH 4-bolt block from a 69 Nova with a double Vin stamp. The first stamp was struck at an angle, X'ed out and re-stamped.

Gut feeling says it's OK, but as Sam says, you can't see the metal surface finish very well.
