69 RAM AIR lV judge build sheet HOW CAN I CLEAN IT
1 Attachment(s)
just wondering if anybody has tried to remove the rust and dirt from a buils sheet, i pulled the tank out of this judge today to prepare for a repaint, i also wanted to get some input on how far i should take this repaint,i didnt want to paint it but the original paint had bean spot repaired in a few areas and the bumper is faded and i want the car to look better, the body on this car is great but it sat for a long time and the frame is covered with surface scale and some spots on the floors are the same way, i wanted to leave the car as original as possable, the jams and trunk area all look great and the interior is mint, what are your thoughts just painting the ouside body and not takeing the car all of the way down to make the bottom look as we all want it to look?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif sometimes you just dont know where to stop.

Re: 69 RAM AIR lV judge build sheet HOW CAN I CLEAN IT
Go to an auto paint supply store and purchase some prep solve. Get a cookie sheet from the wife's kitchen cabinet and lay the build sheet in it, gently pour the prep solve into the cookie sheet until the prep solve covers the build sheet. This will remove any grease and tar that has impregnated the build sheet and will not damage it. Let soak for an hour or so and the stains and dirt will lift right out without damaging the document. When remove gently lift the build sheet from one end and pour prep solve over the build sheet to rinse. Let hand dry in a safe place and it will lighten and clean it right up.
I learned this from a Ford guy when I owned my two Boss cars. Mike |

Works like a charm... I used el cheapo laquer thinner ... the same stuff I use to clean paint guns with... on my 68 GTO build sheet and 70 Judge Conv build sheet... here is what the 70 looks like afterwards... BTW you could not even read it for all of the tar stains on it before... it was black!!! web page
