GM came thru with documentation on the 77 Z/28

Well I called GM Vintage Vehicle Services a few weeks ago to see if any original documentation still existed on the 77. George Zapora told me if I didn't hear back from him in a few days than they did find something and it would be in the mail in a few weeks. Today I got a package from GM and the first page is a nice cover letter explaining what info they had and contact numbers if I need to call them again.

Page 2 has everything on the car, VIN, trim, paint, price as sold, production date, ship date and original dealer.

Below all that is a list of everything that would be on the build sheet if I found one, 26 options. The list fits the car exactly and everything is correct (dad ordered it new so I knew most of this stuff already). At the bottom of page 3 is the little documented by George Zapora.

I didn't need to get this stuff since the car will never be for sale but I love original paperwork and documentation. I was VERY surprised GM had records on the car since they claim to have kept no records.

Re: GM came thru with documentation on the 77 Z/28

I knew the service was available but I also know another person who tried it on his 77 Z and there were no records. I guess I have better luck than him.

I didn't receive a copy of the invoice rather a typed letter with everything on it. An actual copy of the original invoice would have been nice.

What I find interesting is the email and names you pasted do not match the GM Vintage Vehicle Services info I have. I wonder if 2 different departments are doing this and depending who you contact affects what format you get your info on.

Re: GM came thru with documentation on the 77 Z/28

My understanding is that GM subcontracted this service out to Allied Vaughn. Not sure of the particulars of this agreement. I used the service for my son's 81 Z and they provided us with an a copy of an original invoice document.
