1969 Chevelle SS on ebay

Looking for opinions on the block stampings on this car. Looks like a restamp to me. Otherwise a nice looking car.

Hi Phil
Looks like it was stamped one number at a time ! As in not gang stamped. Would be nice to see the tranny stamp.
P.S. Solon was packed on Tuesday, going to Boardman Sat.

Those wheels are classic.... I take it the wheel masking kit doesn't come with a diagram or instructions? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

That is a great looking driver! I never have and never will judge a stamp (font and/or broaches) by a picture, BUT, I would be very suspicious of that one as there are a number of red flags there.

Regards,

Mark

Has the entire rear package shelf been cut out, with the exception of the center?

Thanks for the feedback. A friend is interested in the car and I was looking for some second opinions. I completely missed the wheel paint and the rear package shelf repair.

Mike, I hope to make Solon next Tuesday; it is my last one off until October. The days are getting shorter.

I was just noting what I saw, how the wheels are painted surely wouldn't be a deal maker/breaker, but when you see goofy stuff like that, it usually means there are 100 other goofy things to be found if you look for them. On the other hand, you can't expect to get a 75k resto when buying a 20k car (or whatever the price may be)... Cars like this one can really only be assessed properly by going to see them in person. There are 1000 things that don't show up in pics, and white paint doesn't help, as its one of the most "forgiving" colors there are when taking pics. It also really depends on what you're looking for...and what you're paying.

a couple of things i noticed, the front parking lights are not correct. they should have a stainless trim ring around them and black paint. i would also check to see if it has the correct bolted rag joint coupler. the car is baltimore built but does not have the "L" on the lower line. but please understand that it is just highly suspected that it should be there and there is NO conclusive evidence, just a very good chance if it was there it could mean ss 396. i would suspect the engine stamp but i'm no expert on that. i would look that build sheet over real good. it sure looks original but perhaps that can be faked. it sure looks like a nice driver. best of luck mike

Phil, looks like the floor is weak on the one shot looking back towards the rear of the car. Appears like the floorboard has small rot holes in it.. Looks like they are trying to mask it with black undercoating or paint.. Or it could be different layers of paint scaling.. hard to tell w/o looking at it in person.. Might be an OK car if the price was right..

------Build sheet says it was a chambered exhaust car when delivered. If true it would be pretty cool, and fairly rare!........Bill S
