You know, I've been looking for a set of those bumpers for a very, very long time. I have never seen or heard of any still existing. There is a fastback Bill Thomas Chevy II that survived to this day and possibly it might have a set. I'd say your best bet would be to have a fiberglass shop fabricate a set from old photos. A good shop like VFN or Glasstek could do it. Sure, it would be expensive, but you'd have something very speciial. Several of those Bill Thomas Novas had those special bumpers. I'm actually surprised that Clary's Novacaine never had a set.

Very simple. The reason those early BT cars have the cutouts, and mine does not, they were built for road racing, which meant they needed a way to cool the front brakes. Later on they became drag cars. My car and DH's 66 were purpose built drag race cars, thus no need to cool anything. Heck, mine does not even have front brakes.

I've always thought it was a 3-4 piece front clip because there's so many photos of Bad Bascomb with just the hood removed. I have found an NOS, never installed, straight axle front suspension for an early Nova, but I felt the owner was a little out of line with the price. Dick Harrells '65 Chevy II ended up sitting behind a gas station down in South St. Louis before disappearing into oblivion. A friend possibly had it, but stripped the paint to bare metal and put the shell on a tube chassis before I had a chance to examine it.

Get a hold of Stefano of Nickey Chicago. He is developing some very interesting pieces for anyone interested in building a nostalgia drag car. www.nickeychicago.net
