1968 Z steering box

Were do you find the dates on a standard steering unit? Are the longer pitman arms the fast ratio units?

On a manual box, the date is stamped on a pad next to the cap on top. Yes, a longer pitman arm in conjunction with shorter steering arms makes for faster steering.

You're welcome. Quite often the steering boxes get pretty grimy and it can be hard to tell there is even a pad there for the date to be stamped on.

Yes after 40 years I guess they do gather a lot of grime.
