Re: Top $$$ paid 67 bench seat shift boot..
Hi:
65-67 fullsize bench are the same boot as far as I remember and 67 chevelle totally different.Chevelle are common. Big chev hens teeth. Last nos one I had for 65-67 fullsize bench sold for over 700 and that was not recently, last chevelle like 40.00. What exactly do you need?? Let us know. Kind Regards Joe |
Re: Top $$$ paid 67 bench seat shift boot..
The 67 chevelle bench seat boot is the same as the big car in 67 the repos are 66 chevelle only and are no where near correct because in 67 they used a chrome floor bezel on the chevelle and big car for bench seat, only diff is the big car bezel was a hair shorter. The 67 boots are very thin and flimsly and are offset to fill up the bezel area and have the shifter hole in the center of the 3 ribs and are rounded at the base, where as the earlier big car boots were thicker and the shifter hole was farthest forward on the 3 ribs sticking thru the bezel and were more squared at the base ..but they will work and most know one will be the wiser once the bezel is on thats y i can also use those too...thanks:)

Scott, try Dick at True Connections 1-800-600-4144. He sometimes has stuff like that. He will be back tuesday, he went to Pleasonton swap meet over the weekend.

I am sure my good friend mr.70 will take a look for me. What I know for sure is the 67 chevelle boot I sold was noticabally different than the full size and it was not a repo but nos GM it sold for like 40.00 and the guy was happy. The 65-67 fullsize boot will bring 700 NOS plus any day of the week. The last one on e-bay used with two tears brought almost 300.If you are looking to find a full size to use I wish you luck. This is the full size I remember but I never kept a picture of the chevelle but they must be close since I know fullsise guys using the chevelle ones since they cannot find their original. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...peedshift1.jpg |
Re: Top $$$ paid 67 bench seat shift boot..
This is an interesting topic, and I have always wondered about it as well. The rotting 67 Chevelle SS not far from my house has the original 4 speed stuff up to the ball. These were the closeups I took of the boot last time I went. I'm not sure if the boot is turned around 180 degrees on the handle or not. I would have pulled it up and opened it up to get a better picture, but I shouldn't have even been there so I was in a hurry!

Re: Top $$$ paid 67 bench seat shift boot..
Hi Steve:
I think we are going to need some help from the parts books to confirm this one. Yours does look the same if it was turned but nothing to say the guy didnot install a fullsize boot either. Only the parts books will put this one to rest once and for all. Take care Joe |

Hello, I have a NOS 1965-66 bench seat 4 spd. boot and retaining ring for my 66 Biscayne big block project and it looks slightly different than the one pictured.

Which picture Jim mine or Steves. Mine was originally bought for my 66 l-72 biscayne in probally 1976 from GM?? Although now I am finding out that does not mean anything any more as I am going through my original GM 66 body mounts only to find GM sent 67/68 replacements under 66 part numbers. Can you post a picture of yours.

Re: Top $$$ paid 67 bench seat shift boot..
I can this evening. The one pictured is I am pretty sure for the 67 as you can see the shape of it fitting inside that chrome base in the old chevelle...may also be same for 67 big car.Gotta love GM and their parts system and number and design change. Saw this first hand many years ago woking in collision shops.
