50's Muscle?
What kind of 50's cars would you consider muscle, by modern day definition of the term muscle car? I'd have to say that these would qualify:
1957 Bel Air fuelie 1958 Super Marauder Chrysler 300 letter cars 1957 Ford Fairlane supercharged ....and what else? |
Re: 50's Muscle?
57 Oldsmobile w/ J-2 Option
57 Dual Quad Plymouth Fury the 348 3 Duece Cars..... And 55 Chevy's with Primered Front Ends.....LOL Ken |
Re: 50's Muscle?
How about dual-quad solid-lifter Corvettes, as well as FI Vettes.
Blown '57 T-bird. '56 Dodge D-500. Cunninghams. Cad-Allards. 2x4 Caddies. '50 Olds Rocket 88. Highway patrols used big '52 Nashes in some states. |
Re: 50's Muscle?
FI & 3x2 Pontiacs
57 Studebaker Golden Hawk (supercharged) Buick Century - strangely, I think this fits closest. If you're going to define a muscle car as the big engine put in the small body, it's bang on. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: 50's Muscle?
possibly the first big engine, light body: 50 Olds 88
Chrysler 300's. Awesome cars. |
Re: 50's Muscle?
You might chuckle, but the 57' Rambler Rebel put up some respectable numbers.....

Re: 50's Muscle?
Didn't they just feature one in Hemmings Muscle machines? Where ever it was...it was a very interesting article!
