How many 70 LS 6 Chevelle's built?
 

Dumb Ford guy needs help can't find answer in any of my books(most of my books are Ford books) or online. How many 1970 LS6 Chevelles were built? Are 4 speed V. automatics numbers available? I think there were 4475 built.

That's what I thought 4000 or so? Did Chevy ever release actual numbers or is it just speculation? Does anyone know of a good Chevelle sight?

3525 M/T CRV coded blocks were assembled.
1923 A/T CRR coded blocks were assembled.
4475 1970 LS-6 Chevelle/Elcaminos were sold by Chevrolet in 1970.
That leaves 973 service engines sold OTC back then,this per Tonawanda records.

Dan Carr has produced a poster with Chevelle production numbers on it. I don't know where the info came from but he has done a lot of research. I edited my original response to reflect the actual number Dan says were built.

Which is why I am a Ford/dodge guy owning only one Camaro with a bullit proof history. Really a tragedy about the lack of factory docs and lack of a defining letter in the VIN on the Chevy's. Clearly Chevy's are by a wide margin the best muscle cars ever built and like you say 6000 LS6s out there. I would have been buying Chevy's since the mid 80s if I could more easily document them. Seems like every single camaro or chevelle for sale now has the obligatory build sheet,protecto plate, matching numbers and other forged stamped BS.
