Re: Update from St. Louis
Good to meet you yesterday Rusty. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif
Like you said, a fairly good day at the track, even with the Timing troubles. Most of the guys I talked to were smiling about it. TRULY Nostalgia racing, with a Flagman handling the Starting line duties. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Unfortunately the weather played a part late in the afternoon and all activities came to a halt by 6 PM. HOWEVER, not before one pretty cool Ceremony. The Musclecar Reunion organizers Honored five individuals from their "Legends of Speed" area, and inducted them into their Hall of Fame. Four of the five individuals are Ronnie Sox, represented by his wife Diane, Don "Big Daddy" Garlits, Larry Reyes and the "Hawaiian', Mr. Roland Leong. All truly deserving individuals, and very gracious during the ceremony and all day long. Roland and Larry were signing autographs all day right next to Tom, Diana and Rob and we chatted with them a couple of times. Very accessible and accomodating! The Fifth person inducted into the hall of Fame was Fred Gibb, and as usual was represented by our very good friends Helen and Nancy Gibb. Both these ladies were on hand all day Saturday and will be there again today. I understand there was a Formal Awards presentation to take place this morning before the Racing kicks off again. Again , due to inclement and serious weather conditions rolling in later Saturday, everything planned for yesterday evening was curtailed. I'm about 70 miles North of Gateway and the skies are clear and sunny here now so hopefully they can have a full day of activities today. CONGRATULATIONS to all the Hall of Fame inductees and a BIG https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif to Helen and Nancy Gibb! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif Always good to spend time with the folks from LaHarpe, including Bob and Nancy Lionberger. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif OH, BTW,............. Howie really did have the car there....................... and IT RUNS! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Annie can vouch for me because she actually had the nerve to ride with him when he DROVE it back to the trailer! (silly girl!) I have a ton of pix from yesterday that I will try to get to later this afternoon. Hope everything goes well for y'all today. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

And, did Mr. Howie get his nap yesterday? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |
Re: Update from St. Louis
No nap yesterday, so he'll be Grumpy today. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
Poor guy barely had a chance to sit down. The car was very well received. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...DSCF0051-2.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...DSCF0021-2.jpg You'll notice the front wheels are NOT K/H Strippers. He does have them but the 7.60 Stahl tires were a bit too tall and rubbed the back of the fenders so he ran the new wheel combo this weekend. Here's proof he DOES have the full set. http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...R/DSCF0212.jpg |

Re: Update from St. Louis
Vaughn Bright was there with his Pleuger & Griffis AA/FC. The vintage pieces on this car were unbelievable.
